After extensive research (ie. eating a lot of candy and drinking a lot of cider, all in one night) I have compiled six delightful cider and Halloween candy pairings for you to try!
All of these ciders are available in Edmonton! You can check Liquor Connect to find out where to get them, but Sherbrooke Liquor is usually the safest bet. If you live in British Columbia or the USA you will have no problem finding these.
Sea Cider Witch’s Broom Cider & Candy Corn
First up is Sea Cider Witch’s Broom paired with candy corn. Witch’s Broom has lovely fall spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger with just a hint of orange. It has the perfect name for Halloween, but is actually named after Scotch Broom, as part of their Canadian Invasion Series. This series raises awareness about invasive plants that are threatening natural areas on the West Coast of Canada. This cider is only slightly sweet so it can handle the caramel sweetness of the candy corn.
Sonoma Cider The Anvil Cider & Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Next is Sonoma Cider The Anvil paired with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. This is a crisp cider rounded out with the flavour of bourbon. This flavour combination goes so well with the peanut butter and chocolate. I’m not a huge fan of fruity flavours with chocolate so I wanted to find a cider that balanced the fruit flavours with something different. The Anvil has does this with nice a wood and smoky notes and a flavour that isn’t too sweet so you can handle eating it with a peanut butter cup (or 2!). It also smells really good!
