On our last day in Portland, our first stop was Oregon Mead and Cider Co. The location was actually just a few blocks from where we were staying and it was beautiful outside. Cider within walking distance seemed like a perfect way to start the day!
As the name suggests, this isn’t just a cidery, but they make a few different types of mead as well. I’m not a mead expert, but it does pop up every now and then on our cider adventures. I haven’t always been a fan, but the flavour of fermented honey has really grown on me over the past few years.
This was a bit of smaller set up than our last few visits, but it made it nice and a bit more personal. We were greeted by somebody personally involved in the actual production and we just got to hang out for a bit and chat about making cider and mead. There were some good discussions about cider, mead, and the whole operation. We, of course, did a full tasting while we talked. It was great to be walked through each offering by somebody who had an intimate knowledge of the products and how they are made.
