September has been all about cider for me! I am back out on Vancouver Island again; this time without Nathan, but with some other friends who are mostly new to the world of cider. Today, I took them on their first cidery tour ever! We are staying in Victoria so we visited Tod Creek, which was the perfect introduction to the world of craft cider.
The staff member at Tod Creek who did our cider tasting was AMAZING! I wish I caught his name so I could give him a proper shout out. I have visited a ton of cideries and this was one of the best guided tastings I have done. He knew a lot about apples, cider tasting, and the history and future of the cidery itself. He was excellent at explaining the basics of cider to my friends who were newbies, but easily answered some of my more advanced questions – and he mentioned he hadn’t been working in the cider world very long!
